This guide is a revision of the Guide to the Role and Training of Public Health Specialty Registrars for Local Councils published by the Local Government Association  in 2013. It provides updated information about how the Public Health Specialty Training Programme is organised, what the responsibilities of councils are in hosting PH Specialty Registrars (StRs), and how councils can make best use of the expertise PH StRs bring, including a broad selection of case studies of work delivered by Specialty Registrars in councils across England. It has been produced by members of the FPH Specialty Registrars’ Committee and has been jointly endorsed by FPH, the Local Government Association, Public Health England and the Association of Directors of Public Health.
