We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and inspiring part-time Interim Consultant in Public Health/Consultant in Public Health Medicine (0.6 FTE) to backfill and report to the Director of Public Health, Children & Families. For an initial period of one year, 0.6 FTE, this role will be covering the three boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster City Councils.

The successful candidate will lead and manage the Children’s & Families Team allocated portfolio across the full range of complex public health issues including reviews, service design, reprocurement and performance managing, public health expert advice to partners. The post holder will be expected to cope with multiple and changing demands in a highly political environment, to meet tight deadlines and will have responsibility for significant budgets.

Ability to listen and respond effectively to service users, their families and carers and to address some of the most pronounced inequalities in the country will be crucial to the success of this position. You will also work in close partnership with the local clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and councils’ children and families’ services, other health partners, wider businesses, and the voluntary and community sector organisations, to deliver effective integrated public health service strategies. Amongst the responsibilities, you will advise the health and wellbeing boards in each borough making recommendations regarding services, patient care, customer journeys/pathways and wider determinants of health. You will possess a high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, and negotiation, flexibility and motivation skills.

You will be included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists. You must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body. MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment is desirable.

We offer a competitive salary in the range £86,397 – £91,263 with the opportunity of an additional 10% payment for enhanced performance, including a range of benefits and CPD opportunities.
