Today, IHPE sent a letter to the Prime Minister David Cameron, which gave our position on PSHE education:

The Institute of Health Promotion and Education thinks that a statutory and comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) programme should be introduced in all schools.

Schools should draw upon the curriculum for PSHE developed by the PSHE Association for the Department for Education. Children should learn ways of assessing risk, keeping physically and emotionally safe, and how to respond in an emergency.

We believe that PSHE should be well planned and taught by properly trained, confident and competent teachers.

The Institute of Health Promotion and Education calls upon the Prime Minister to make PSHE statutory to ensure that all school pupils learn how to keep themselves and others safe.
