Recruiter: London Borough of Bexley

Location: Bexley (City/Town), London (Greater)

Salary: up to £113,000

Closes: 10 Mar 2017

The context for Bexley is changing. The population of Bexley is currently 241,500 with an increasing older population.

We are now seeing new communities move in from inner London, introducing more young families and working professionals to the borough.

Our Growth Strategy includes plans for 31,000 new homes and, together with yet tighter financial constraints, means the Council needs to change the way it delivers public health services.

In common with many other authorities our public health challenges include dementia, adult and child obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, CVD and late diagnosis of HIV.

You will be joining an organisation that firmly believes public health has a key role to play in delivering Bexley’s vision for healthy, sustainable communities through developing prevention programmes with a wide range of internal and external partners from planning and housing colleagues to GPs.

We are looking for a Director of Public Health to join our system leadership, who places equal value on high quality partnerships and collaborative working. A fundamental review of public health has identified the need for more targeted, locality based prevention services rather than a whole population approach.

As principal adviser to the Health and Wellbeing Board this is an exciting opportunity for you to help shape the future of Public Health in Bexley through the support you will provide in developing a new JSNA and joint health and well-being strategy.

For a discussion in confidence, please contact Penny Ransley at GatenbySanderson on 020 7426 3962 or visit www.bexleyleadership.com.

Closing Date: Friday 10th March 2017.
