Health Promotion and Mindfulness – a briefing paper from the MI and the IHPE

Researched and written by two Trustees of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education (IHPE), Dr Karen E Neil and Dr Michael C Watson, and Jenny Edwards CBE, Health Policy Lead for the Mindfulness Initiative, this briefing paper outlines the ways in which mindfulness can help achieve widely-recognised recommendations for public health promotion, as well as providing policy recommendations aimed at improving accessibility and funding.

How do we talk about health?

As part of IHPE’s 60th anniversary year celebrations, IHPE hosted a webinar in partnership with Robert Gordon University.

There were 256 participants registered for the live event  of which the majority were UK-based. Other countries represented included Canada, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, and USA.

The panel shared their passions for health promotion, all originating from observations during work in their respective areas of health, including
dietetics, nursing, allied health, academia and dental health. It was clear from the discussion that panel members have ongoing enthusiasm and commitment for health promotion and all that it can achieve in reducing inequality.
