In an earlier newsletter we drew attention to a Finnish paper discussing the importance of education about use of medicines in school health education.
With growing concerns about antimicrobial resistance recent NICE Guidance to health professionals calls for them to deal with patient expectations about receiving antibiotics.
Changing patient expectations will require carefully thought through education activities in the community as a whole. Separate guidance for patients, possibly backed by a public education campaign, is expected next year.
