Ruth is a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University. She teaches health promotion, health communication and research methods. Her research interests include research with vulnerable young women, participatory approaches, pedagogical innovation and the evaluation of health promotion interventions within UK practice settings. She is the Course Leader for the MSc Public Health Promotion programmes in Zambia and Ghana.


Ruth is a nurse by profession with ten years nursing experience in acute medicine and HIV/AIDS and has been working in academic health promotion for 13 years.


She is the author of several papers and books on health promotion including Green, J., Tones, K., Cross, R. and Woodall, J. (2015) Health Promotion: Planning and Strategies and two forthcoming books Health Communication: Theoretical and Critical Perspectives and Global Health: An Introductory Text and co-editor of the International Journal of Health Promotion and Education.
