Mark is Subject Leader in Health & Applied Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University.

He is Chair of the BPS Membership & Standards Board, a BPS Trustee (, and a Chartered Psychologist, Registered Psychologist, Health Psychologist, a Chartered Scientist, a Registered EuroPsy Psychologist, a Fellow of the BPS and a Fellow of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education.

He is the author of numerous books on psychology. He provides life, health and executive coaching and has trained senior managers in mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

In 2011, he was the recipient of the British Psychological Society Division of Health Psychology Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement of Health Psychology.

He has wide-ranging research interests within the broad area of health psychology.  He has published on areas as diverse as hand-arm vibration syndrome, complementary therapy, sexual health, and hearing impairment.
