University of Plymouth – Faculty of Health & Human Sciences – Institute for Health and Community (IHC)
29th August 2016
Under the leadership of the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Judith Petts CBE, the University is embarking on a transformational change agenda to ensure success in a rapidly changing global landscape. This will require courage, innovation and an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence. The Institute for Health and Community (IHC) is a multi-disciplinary institute within the University with a vibrant research culture and a focus on innovation, enterprise and public engagement. The IHC acts as a gateway to those undertaking research and innovation in the areas of health, social care and community related disciplines. It promotes and builds the work of University Cross-disciplinary research themes with a particular focus on the life-course and key life-course events. Our aim is to develop and extend the national and international reputation for impactful research and related activity of relevance to healthcare, business, government, civil society and the broader community. The IHC currently has three associated research centres:
- Centre for Culture, Community and Society
- Centre for Health, Social Care and Innovation
- Centre for Methodological Innovations
The University is seeking to appoint a Director to lead the IHC. The Director will be part of the Faculty’s senior leadership team and will be expected to drive forward the Institute’s national and international profile. It is expected that this appointment will be made at Professorial level and therefore the University strongly encourages the successful individual to pursue their own research which should be broadly aligned to University strategic interests.
